Walls, Doors and Windows of the New World Quarter of Prague

Sometimes, people ask about my camera. Not that the pictures in this and the following post are technically perfect, but they were shot with an iPhone.

Prague Gas Lamps

After the sunset, the streets of Prague are illuminated by a soft yellow glow of what used to be gas lamps. Even in the early 1980's, there were still a few corners of Prague that were lit by gas lamps, with their typical hiss, yellow-green light, and with an old lamplighter making his rounds with a long pole lighting them at dusk, and turning them off at dawn. Today, gas lamps make a comback to the historic center of Prague, bringing back an oldfashioned atmosphere, but leaving the lamplighter to the history books due to their automatic operation.
